Deo Volente
Deo Volente means "God willing" in Latin. This term was used in James when speaking about making future plans.
"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit'— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.'”
As Christians, we acknowledge that God is Sovereign and in control. It is not sinful to make plans, but we should always humbly acknowledge God as the master of those plans. In your parenting, in your finances, in your ministry, in your relationships, in your athletics, everything should begin with an attitude of Deo Volente (God wiling)!
